Tanzania resumes tourism with strict preventive measures

The Minister writes in his Facebook and Instagram pages:

‘We finally came up with deliberations to open up our country for tourism from June 2020, to have a COVID-19 Tourism Task Force, to have COVID-19 Tourism Updates, to have a Communication strategy, a comprehensive tourism recovery plan, a Comprehensive COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedure document, and Individual Safety Protocols for Hotels, Tourism facilities, Mountain climbing, Airports etc!

Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) are completed, awaiting fine tuning, authorization and dissemination. Others are underway.

We hope, if agreed within the government, to quarantine our staff in all tourism facilities for 14 days, then test them for CORONAVIRUS before they start serving visitors.

All tourists visiting Tanzania shall have tested negative for Coronavirus four days before they commence their trip.

Upon arrival to the airport they shall be subjected to thermal scanning and shall observe social distance and other preventing measures including mandatory wearing of masks.

SOPs shall be communicated to the general public and internationally to all our partners.

Target is to give trust to the market that Tanzania is safe and tourists can come and leave safe. #TanzaniaUnforgettable #HK’
